synopsis of the film
Jyoti, an aspiring writer, from the Indian State of Assam, is destined to be bedridden as she is diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at a tender age. A battle she is fated to fight for life. Even though life is hostile to her, Jyoti does not let her suffering get the better of her. Torn between her obligations towards her family and her aspirations, she decides to fight against all odds to lead an independent life and become an acclaimed author. Jyoti has seen the worst of times when many lose hope, but she accepts her life as a challenge with open arms to become her ideal self and inspires many.
Director’s Artistic Statement
This film adaptation is based on a true story and the story unfolds with dreams and illusions of a young girl’s life’s journey. I intended to make this movie on Jyoti’s life because I believe that as human beings, we tend to get exhausted with the pettiest of struggles in our lives. It differs from person to person but when I came across Jyoti I realized that even if she could not walk from such an early age and faced so many challenges in her life, yet she is optimistic in becoming a writer. This inspired me to my core! The fighting spirit and the fire that is within us need to be awakened. Through this film, the masses will understand the importance of life and how the only obstacle to living our dreams is us and not an external challenge. It is our mind that gets us going forward and Jyoti’s life stands as the perfect example to never give up on ourselves. No matter how low we might see ourselves, only we can lift ourselves up.
